Wessex Cancer Trust Sing for Life Singing Groups

Singing and friendship make us feel great so it stands to reason that standing side by side with companions and joining forces in song is an excellent therapy. That’s the thought behind Wessex Cancer Trust’s Sing for Life Singing Groups. These are therapeutic groups for cancer patients and their families/carers to come and sing each week with no pressure to perform, just to have fun, provide relaxation, support and meet like minded people. They are always open to welcome new members. The Singing Groups are run by Musical Director, Robin Gair in partnership with Wessex Cancer Trust.

This is  for any patients that have a life limiting illness (not just cancer) and their carers or carers on their own who care for a person with a life limiting illness; they don’t need to be referred to CMH. It provides Support for carers Access to Macmillan Citizens Advice advisor Access to  nursing advice Access to complementary therapies Access to information for managing illness or just a cup of tea and a chat.

Are you interested in sewing or knitting? Why not join in our crafting club at the café! Interested in sewing, knitting or crochet we have the group for you at the café for anyone who is having trouble or enjoy a chat when crafting.

Westfield Corner Southampton SO18 2LE. You can find us sat between our friendly neighbours on the cosy curve next to the Wide Lane Round About (hence the name). Getting to us Walk - stretch your legs and come and see us (great exercise with a nice reward of a drink and a tasty snack at the end). Bike – you can lock your bike against our bike railings. Buses – we’re on Velvet’s Bus Route A which stops pretty close by at Octavia Road Parking – we don’t have any parking - there is some street parking nearby.

Autism Friendly Chill-Out Sessions at Woolston Library

Autism Friendly Chill-Out Sessions at Woolston Library from Saturday 1 April 2017 11am - 1pm Woolston Library will take over hosting autism friendly sessions. For the sessions the meeting room will be set up with low lighting and large, portable sensory equipment available. Additionally comfy bean bags and a range of books will be utilised to create a comfortable calm space for families to use, either to stay in or dip in and out of as they use the full range of library resources and services elsewhere in the building. They welcome chewys, ear defenders, pushchairs and any other aids you want to bring, a social story and shoe park will be available for the events.
