Healthwatch Southampton have had a number of people contact them with their concerns about the use of the ‘Do not attempt resuscitation’ (DNR) in hospitals. It has been suggested by some that DNR is sometimes being used to avoid treating the elderly. As a result Healthwatch Southampton have raised this with specialists at the general hospital who are very keen to hear more about the public concern and to ensure that they do everything that they can to provide factual information and allay people’s concerns.
Healthwatch are discussing the topic of ‘Do Not Attempt Resuscitation with the General Hospital at their next meeting and in order to provide some facts about the public knowledge and perception of this subject they have developed a short questionnaire which is here and they hope you will complete and return. They will publish the data from this exercise on their website
Their meeting is on 2 August so it would be really good if you could complete the survey by 28 July.
Please be assured you will not be identified unless you wish to be.
If you would like to provide further information on DNR, or if you would like representatives of the General Hospital to visit your community group (if applicable) please contact Healthwatch via:
