When someone relies on you being there, you have a Plan B in case plans change.
But if YOU have a crisis, who knows the Plan B?
We are running FREE informal sessions to help you start writing an Emergency Plan. When the plan is complete you will be given a keyring so anyone can see you have caring responsibilities. It has a dedicated phone number on it for emergency services to ring. This sets your plan into action.

We run Emergency Planning sessions designed to introduce you to the form and help you to begin to consider what information would be required in an emergency situation. Our sessions run throughout the year in locations across the city. The session is completely free and aims to provide you with peace of mind and a structured and sustainable approach in an effective plan. Take a look at our events calendar for upcoming dates!
An Emergency Plan is a document which provides important details about the person you care for which can be used by three nominated emergency contacts. This ensures that they can provide the best support possible if you are unable to fulfil your caring role. Your emergency contacts will be people you trust to look after your loved one if you cannot. Along with your Emergency Plan you will also receive an Emergency keyfob and card to complement your plan. The keyfob and card have an emergency contact number on them which is available 24 hrs a day, and 365 days a year. Having this keyfob means that if you are unable to communicate for any reason someone else can make contact with us, through the emergency number printed on it, to kick start your Emergency Plan and to make sure that it is known that you are a carer with responsibilities to your cared for.
Once you have completed the form and returned it to Carers in Southampton we will provide you with your Emergency Key fob and card which have the emergency number on as well as your personal ID number for Carers in Southampton.
Alternatively, you can download the template to create your own plan and fill it in yourself at home; the form is below. We have produced guidelines which we recommend you read before completing the form; these are also available below. Once you have completed your form you can contact us to register your plan and arrange getting your Key fob, card and ID number.
